Flexible Drainage Connector for Underground Repairs
The flexible drainage connector is ideal for repair work where older 6 inch clay pipework needs to be adapted to 160mm PVC underground drainage pipe. This is common on existing drainage systems, replacement pipe sections, extensions and site alterations.
Because the connector is stepped, it can connect two pipe ends with different outside diameters without needing a separate bush. This helps keep the joint simple and reduces the number of components required on site.
The pipe ends should be cut square, cleaned and checked before fitting. Avoid using the connector on badly cracked, misshapen or unstable pipe ends unless the pipework has been prepared correctly. The sealing area must be sound enough for the rubber sleeve to grip and seal.
Flexible Drainage Connector Installation Use
The flexible drainage connector should be fitted to plain-ended drainage pipework. First, measure the outside diameter of the clay pipe and the PVC pipe. Then check that the larger pipe falls within 170-192mm and the smaller pipe falls within 144-160mm.
Loosen the stainless steel bands and slide the connector into position. Align both pipe ends, then centre the coupling over the joint. Tighten each tension band evenly to the manufacturer’s recommended torque so the EPDM body compresses correctly around the pipework.
After fitting, make sure the pipe and joint are properly supported. Correct bedding and backfill help reduce movement at the joint and protect the drainage system after installation.
Flexible Connector for Tighter Fit Applications
This flexible drainage connector is a good choice when the pipe measurements suit the VAC1924 range and a tighter adaptor fit is preferred.
