Description
The flexible drainage connector is designed for joining 6 inch PVC drainage pipe to 4 inch PVC drainage pipe where the two pipe outside diameters are different. This VIPSeal VAC1922 adaptor coupling has an official size range of 170-192mm to 110-122mm.
It is a practical fitting for underground drainage repairs, alterations, extensions and maintenance work where larger PVC pipework needs to connect into smaller 4 inch PVC drainage pipe. The stepped EPDM rubber body helps bridge the difference between the two pipe sizes, while the stainless steel tension bands tighten around each pipe end to create a secure seal when installed correctly.
This connector is useful for groundworkers, builders, drainage installers and maintenance teams working on foul water and surface water drainage systems. It can help reduce the need for more complex pipe alterations where a simple adaptor coupling is suitable.
Flexible Drainage Connector for 6 Inch to 4 Inch PVC
This flexible drainage connector is used when a larger PVC drainage pipe needs to connect to a smaller 4 inch PVC pipe. Although pipework may be described in imperial sizes, the outside diameter should always be measured before ordering or fitting.
The VAC1922 size range is 170-192mm on the larger side and 110-122mm on the smaller side. Therefore, this fitting should only be used where both pipe ends fall within those official VIPSeal size ranges.

Flexible Drainage Connector for Underground Repairs
The flexible drainage connector is ideal for repair work where a larger PVC pipe needs to be adapted down to 4 inch PVC drainage pipe. It is often used on existing drainage systems, replacement pipe sections, alterations and site upgrades.
Because the connector is stepped, it can connect two different pipe diameters without needing a separate bush. This helps keep the joint simple and reduces the number of components required on site.
Before fitting, the pipe ends should be cut square, cleaned and checked. Avoid using the connector on cracked, uneven or badly damaged pipe ends unless the pipework has been prepared correctly. The sealing area must be sound enough for the rubber sleeve to grip and seal.
Flexible Drainage Connector Installation Use
The flexible drainage connector should be fitted to plain-ended drainage pipework. First, measure the outside diameter of the larger pipe and the smaller pipe. Then check that the larger pipe falls within 170-192mm and the smaller pipe falls within 110-122mm.
Loosen the stainless steel bands and slide the connector into position. Align both pipe ends, then centre the coupling over the joint. Tighten each tension band evenly to the manufacturer’s recommended torque so the EPDM body compresses correctly around the pipework.
After fitting, make sure the pipe and joint are properly supported. Correct bedding and backfill help reduce movement at the joint and protect the drainage system after installation.
Flexible Connector for Different Pipe Diameters
This flexible drainage connector is a good choice when the pipe measurements suit the VAC1922 range and a stepped adaptor coupling is needed. It is especially useful where larger drainage pipework needs to reduce into 110mm PVC pipework.
Always measure before ordering. Older drainage systems and different pipe materials can vary in outside diameter. Measuring both pipe ends is the safest way to choose the correct flexible connector.
This connector is suitable for low-pressure drainage use when installed correctly. It should be used in line with manufacturer guidance, site specification and the correct drainage testing requirements before backfilling.
