Description
The flexible drainage connector is designed for joining, repairing or adapting plain-ended drainage pipes with outside diameters between 180mm and 195mm. This VIPSeal VDC195 drain coupling is commonly used for 6 inch clay drainage pipework and other compatible underground drainage materials within the correct outside diameter range.
It is a practical fitting for drainage repairs, alterations and maintenance work where existing pipework needs to be joined without replacing a longer section of pipe. The flexible EPDM rubber body helps accommodate small variations in pipe diameter, while the stainless steel tension bands tighten the connector securely around the pipe ends.
This connector is suitable for low and non-pressure drainage applications. It is useful for groundworkers, builders, drainage installers and maintenance teams working on underground foul water or surface water drainage systems.
Flexible Drainage Connector for 6 Inch Clay Pipe
This flexible drainage connector suits pipe outside diameters from 180mm to 195mm. It is often used with 6 inch clay drainage pipe, but it can also be used with other compatible pipe materials where the outside diameter falls within the correct size range.
Older clay drainage systems can vary slightly in outside diameter. Therefore, it is important to measure the pipe before ordering or fitting. The pipe ends should be clean, sound and properly supported so the connector can seal correctly.

Flexible Drainage Connector for Drain Repairs
The flexible drainage connector is a useful product for repairing damaged pipework or joining short sections of pipe. It can be used when a damaged section has been cut out and a new section needs to be connected back into the existing drainage run.
Because the coupling does not include a shear band, it is best used where resistance to heavy earth loads is not required. For applications that need extra shear or deflection resistance, a shear-banded coupling may be more suitable.
Always check the site specification before use. If the pipework is in an area with heavy loading, unstable ground or specific sewer adoption requirements, confirm the correct coupling type before installation.
Flexible Drainage Connector Installation Use
The flexible drainage connector should be fitted to clean, plain-ended pipework. First, measure the outside diameter of each pipe. Then confirm that both pipe ends fall within the 180mm to 195mm range for this VDC195 coupling.
Slide the connector over one pipe end, align the second pipe, then position the coupling centrally over the joint. Tighten the stainless steel tension bands evenly to the manufacturer’s recommended torque. This helps the EPDM sleeve compress around the pipe and create a reliable seal.
The pipe ends should be properly bedded and supported before backfilling. Good support helps reduce movement at the joint and helps protect the drainage system after installation.
Flexible Connector for Mixed Pipe Materials
This flexible drainage connector can be used to join pipes in different materials, provided the pipe outside diameters are within the correct size range. This makes it useful on repair jobs where older clay, concrete or other drainage pipe materials need to connect into replacement pipework.
For best results, avoid using the connector on cracked, uneven or badly damaged pipe ends without preparing the pipe first. The sealing area should be clean and smooth enough for the rubber sleeve to grip correctly.
This product is a temporary-to-permanent repair connector when installed correctly, but it is not a substitute for proper pipe bedding, correct fall, drainage testing or suitable backfill.
