McAlpine SD10 is a 40mm / 1½” tubular swivel S trap for sink, basin, urinal and general waste pipe installations. It is designed for waste layouts where the outlet needs to drop vertically rather than exit horizontally through the wall.
McAlpine SD10 Trade Overview
The McAlpine SD10 tubular swivel S trap is a practical choice for plumbers, kitchen fitters, bathroom fitters and maintenance teams. The S trap design is used where the waste pipe needs to run downwards, making it different from a standard P trap such as the SC10.
This trap has a 75mm water seal to help prevent drain odours from coming back through the waste system. It is manufactured from white polypropylene, giving a durable and lightweight fitting for everyday plumbing use.
The SD10 uses a 1½” Multifit compression outlet. This connection is designed to suit common waste pipe materials including plastic, copper and lead pipe, helping installers connect into new or existing waste pipework.

Installation Notes
Before fitting, check that the waste outlet and waste pipe are suitable for a 40mm / 1½” trap. Cut the waste pipe cleanly and make sure it is fully seated inside the Multifit compression outlet. Rotate the swivel body to line up with the waste route, then tighten the compression nuts securely by hand.
After fitting, run water through the waste and check all joints for leaks. The McAlpine SD10 is the standard 40mm tubular swivel S trap. For a horizontal outlet P trap, use the SC10. For an adjustable inlet P trap, use the ASC10.
