McAlpine C10AV 40mm 1½” Anti-Syphon Adjustable Bottle Trap
McAlpine C10AV is a 40mm / 1½” anti-syphon adjustable inlet bottle trap for sink, urinal and general waste pipe installations. It is designed for jobs where a 40mm bottle trap is needed with both height adjustment and anti-syphon protection.
McAlpine C10AV Trade Overview
The McAlpine C10AV combines two useful fitting features in one trap. The adjustable inlet helps line the trap up with the waste outlet, while the built-in anti-syphon valve helps reduce gurgling and protect the trap seal from negative pressure in the waste system.
This makes the C10AV a strong choice for plumbers, kitchen fitters, bathroom fitters and maintenance teams working on 40mm sink, urinal or waste pipework. It is especially useful on repair and replacement jobs where the existing pipe positions are not perfect, or where the customer has reported noisy waste pipework.
The trap has a 75mm water seal to help stop drain odours from coming back through the waste. It also uses a 1½” Multifit compression outlet, which is suitable for common waste pipe materials including plastic, copper and lead pipe.

Why Choose an Anti-Syphon Adjustable Bottle Trap?
An anti-syphon adjustable bottle trap is useful when the waste outlet and existing pipework need extra fitting flexibility, while the waste system also needs help against gurgling or trap seal loss. The adjustable inlet gives extra height movement, which can save time when fitting below sinks, cabinets, utility areas and other waste outlets.
The anti-syphon valve helps control negative pressure in the waste pipework. This helps protect the water seal inside the trap and reduces the chance of drain smells coming back through the waste. As a result, the McAlpine C10AV is a useful upgrade over a standard 40mm bottle trap on problem waste runs.
Installation Notes
Before fitting, check that the waste outlet and waste pipe are suitable for a 40mm / 1½” trap. Cut the waste pipe cleanly and make sure it is fully seated inside the Multifit compression outlet. Adjust the inlet height to suit the waste outlet, then tighten the compression nuts securely by hand.
After fitting, run water through the waste and check all joints for leaks. The McAlpine C10AV is the adjustable inlet anti-syphon version. If no height adjustment is needed, the fixed inlet anti-syphon version may be suitable instead.
