Description

The 160mm swept bend 90° double socket is an underground drainage fitting used to change the direction of 160mm pipework with a smoother bend profile. It is suitable for foul water and surface water drainage systems where a 160mm pipe run needs to turn through a right-angle direction.

This double socket swept bend is designed for use with compatible 160mm underground drainage pipe and fittings. The swept shape helps guide flow around the bend more smoothly than a tight bend, making it a practical choice for larger drainage layouts, commercial groundwork and site drainage alterations.

The double socket design allows compatible 160mm pipework to connect into both ends of the bend. This helps installers create a clean push-fit joint and can reduce the need for additional couplers at the change of direction.

160mm Swept Bend for Underground Drainage

The 160mm swept bend is used where underground drainage pipework needs to change direction while keeping the system neat and serviceable. It is commonly used on larger domestic drainage systems, commercial projects and groundwork layouts where 160mm pipework is specified.

A swept bend is often preferred where a smoother route is needed through the pipe run. This can help support better flow and can make the overall drainage layout easier to maintain when suitable access is included elsewhere in the system.

  • 160mm underground drainage swept bend
  • 90° / 87.5° nominal bend angle
  • Double socket design for compatible 160mm pipework
  • Swept bend profile for a smoother change of direction
  • Suitable for foul water and surface water drainage systems
  • PVC-U underground drainage fitting
  • Orange-brown / terracotta colour to match underground drainage systems
  • Useful for larger domestic, commercial and groundwork drainage layouts

160mm Swept Bend Double Socket Connection

This 160mm swept bend has socketed connections at both ends. The double socket format makes it straightforward to connect two lengths of compatible 160mm underground drainage pipe at a change of direction.

Before installation, check the pipe route, fall direction and bend position. The bend should sit correctly in the trench and should not be forced into poor alignment. If the route does not line up correctly, adjust the pipework or use suitable additional fittings.

Use suitable pipe lubricant on ring seal joints where required. Also, make sure all pipe ends are clean before jointing. If pipework is cut to length, make a clean square cut and chamfer the cut edge before fitting. This helps protect the seal and makes the joint easier to assemble.

160mm Swept Bend Installation Use

The 160mm swept bend should be installed as part of a properly planned underground drainage system. It is useful where a 160mm drainage run needs a right-angle change in direction without using a tight, sharp bend.

Correct bedding and backfill are important around the bend. The pipework and fitting should be evenly supported so the drainage system remains stable after installation. Poor support can place stress on the sockets and may affect long-term performance.

Because this fitting changes the pipe direction, the wider drainage layout should include suitable access for future rodding, inspection or maintenance where required. Always follow the site specification, current UK drainage guidance and manufacturer instructions.

Drainage Bend for Site and Groundwork Use

This fitting is a practical product for builders, groundworkers, landscapers and drainage installers working with larger 160mm underground drainage systems. It can be used on new installations, pipework extensions, repairs and system alterations.

For best results, use compatible pipe and fittings from the same underground drainage system where possible. This helps keep jointing simple and supports a clean, consistent installation.

This product is not an access fitting. If inspection or rodding access is needed near this change of direction, use a suitable access bend, access pipe, inspection chamber or rodding point as required by the drainage layout.
