Description
The 160mm long radius bend 45° single socket is an underground drainage fitting used to change the direction of 160mm pipework with a smoother sweeping bend. It is suitable for foul water and surface water drainage systems where a more gradual change of direction is preferred.
This 45° long radius bend is designed for use with compatible 160mm underground drainage pipe and fittings. The single socket design allows one end to connect to compatible pipework, while the opposite spigot end can be connected into a suitable socket, coupler or fitting within the drainage layout.
Please note: due to the size and handling requirements of this fitting, this product is only available by local delivery or store collection from TWS. It is not suitable for standard parcel delivery.
160mm Long Radius Bend for Underground Drainage
The 160mm long radius bend is used where 160mm underground drainage pipe needs to change direction by around 45 degrees. The long radius shape helps create a smoother change of direction compared with a short, tighter bend.
This makes it useful for larger domestic drainage systems, commercial drainage layouts, main drainage runs and groundwork projects where 160mm pipework is specified. A smoother bend can also help create a cleaner drainage layout where flow performance and maintenance access matter.

Single Socket Long Radius Bend Use
This fitting is useful when a 160mm pipe run needs a controlled change of direction without using a sharper bend. The sweeping profile helps guide the flow through the pipework and can make the drainage layout easier to plan.
The single socket connection gives installers flexibility when joining into compatible 160mm pipework. Before fitting, check the pipe route, fall direction, bend position and connection points. Also, make sure the bend direction suits the required flow path before bedding and backfilling.
If pipework is cut to length, make a clean square cut and chamfer the cut edge before fitting. This helps protect the ring seal and makes the joint easier to assemble.
Underground Drainage Installation Use
The 160mm long radius bend should be installed as part of a properly planned underground drainage system. Use suitable pipe lubricant on push-fit ring seal joints where required by the system. Make sure all pipe ends and seals are clean before jointing.
Correct bedding and backfill are important around the bend. The fitting and connecting pipework should be evenly supported so the drainage run remains stable after installation. Poor support can place stress on joints and may affect long-term performance.
Because this fitting changes the pipe direction, the wider drainage layout should allow for suitable inspection, rodding or chamber access where required. Always follow the site specification, current UK drainage guidance and manufacturer instructions.
160mm Long Radius Bend for Site Drainage Work
The 160mm long radius bend is a practical fitting for builders, groundworkers, landscapers and drainage installers working with larger underground drainage systems. It can be used on new installations, drainage alterations, repairs and commercial site drainage layouts.
Where possible, use compatible pipe and fittings from the same system to keep jointing simple and consistent. Check fitting compatibility before installation, especially when connecting into existing drainage runs or mixed drainage systems.
This product should not be forced into poor alignment. If the pipe route does not line up correctly, adjust the pipework or use suitable couplers, bends or flexible connectors to create a proper connection.
