Description
The 160mm double socket coupler is an underground drainage fitting used to join two lengths of compatible 160mm pipework. It is suitable for foul water and surface water drainage systems where a secure straight connection is needed.
This Funke underground drainage coupler is designed for compatible 160mm PVC-U underground drainage pipework. The double socket design allows pipe to connect from both sides, creating a neat push-fit joint within the drainage run.
Unlike a slip joiner, this standard coupler has a centre stop. This helps position the pipe ends correctly during installation and makes it useful for new pipe runs, extensions and general drainage layout work.
160mm Double Socket Coupler for Underground Drainage
The 160mm double socket coupler is used where two plain ended 160mm underground drainage pipes need to be connected in a straight line. It is a common fitting for larger domestic drainage systems, commercial groundwork and site drainage installations.
The centre stop helps keep each pipe end correctly located inside the coupler. This makes it different from a slip coupler, which is designed to slide further along the pipe for repair work.

160mm Double Socket Coupler Connection
This 160mm double socket coupler has socketed connections at both ends. It is used to connect two compatible 160mm pipe ends where the pipework lines up correctly.
Before fitting, check that the pipe ends are clean, square and correctly aligned. If pipework has been cut, chamfer the cut edges before installation. This helps protect the seals and makes the joint easier to assemble.
Use suitable pipe lubricant on ring seal joints where required. Do not force the fitting into poor alignment, as this may place stress on the joint and affect long-term performance.
160mm Double Socket Coupler Installation Use
The 160mm double socket coupler should be installed as part of a properly planned underground drainage system. It is useful for straight pipe connections, pipe run extensions and new drainage installations.
Correct bedding and backfill are important around the joint. The pipe and fitting should be evenly supported so the drainage system remains stable after installation.
Always confirm the finished pipe position, fall direction and access requirements before backfilling. Follow the site specification, current UK drainage guidance and manufacturer instructions.
Standard Coupler for Site Drainage Work
This fitting is a useful everyday product for builders, groundworkers, landscapers and drainage installers working with larger 160mm underground drainage systems.
For repair work where the coupler needs to slide fully over the pipe, use a 160mm slip joiner instead. For normal straight pipe connections, this standard double socket coupler is the correct fitting.
This product is not an access fitting. If rodding or inspection access is required nearby, use a suitable access pipe, inspection chamber or rodding point as required by the drainage layout.
