Description
The Timco Masonry Bolster with Guard 4″ x 8½” is a heavy-duty hand tool for cutting, splitting, chasing and removing material from stone, brickwork, mortar, cement and masonry. It is ideal for building, renovation, demolition and general trade work.
This masonry bolster is manufactured from drop forged EN9 carbon steel for strength, durability and long tool life. The hardened and tempered construction, precision ground cutting edge and impact resistant tip make it suitable for demanding site tasks.
The wide 4″ / 100mm blade is useful for cutting brick, block and masonry materials, while the hex shank gives a strong, practical shape for grip and control. The domed striking head helps reduce damage during use, and the tough powder coating improves corrosion resistance.
This Masonry Bolster with Guard includes a shock-resistant ergonomic hand guard to help protect the user’s hand during striking work. It is a practical choice for builders, installers, groundworkers, roofline trades, maintenance teams and DIY users.

How to Use a Masonry Bolster with Guard
Position the bolster cutting edge against the brick, block, mortar or masonry surface. Hold the guarded handle securely and strike the head with a suitable lump hammer or club hammer using controlled blows.
Work gradually across the material rather than forcing the tool too deeply in one strike. Keep the blade correctly positioned and move along the line as needed for cutting, chasing or removal work.
Always wear suitable eye protection and gloves when using a masonry bolster. Check the bolster, striking head and hand guard before use, and do not use the tool if any part is damaged.
