Universal Edge Trim for Fortex Cladding
The Universal Edge Trim provides a neat, colour-matched finish at the exposed edge of a Freefoam Fortex cladding installation. The open channel receives the cut end of the cladding board, helping to hide the unfinished edge and create a straight border.
This genuine Freefoam profile is suitable for finishing cladding beside walls, window and door openings, soffits and other fixed boundaries. It is a one-piece trim, making it a straightforward option where a clip-on two-part cover is not required.

How the Universal Edge Trim Works
First, measure and cut the trim to the required length. Fix it to suitable supporting battens before installing the final cladding boards. The cut board edge can then be inserted into the open channel while allowing the expansion clearance stated by Freefoam.
Because it is a one-piece profile, the trim must be positioned during the main cladding installation. Therefore, it differs from the FC301E3 two-part edge trim, which has a separate finishing cover that clips into place after the boards have been fitted.

Where to Use Universal Edge Trim
This trim can be used wherever a straight edge of the cladding requires a finished channel. Typical locations include the sides of a clad elevation, beside window and door openings, against an adjoining wall or beneath a suitable finishing detail.
The profile is intended to cover the board edge rather than form a corner between two clad surfaces. Use the appropriate Fortex internal or external corner trim where two cladding elevations meet.
Compatible Fortex Cladding
Freefoam states that FC302E3 is suitable for Fortex Double Shiplap and Weatherboard cladding. Weatherboard is also commonly described as Feather Edge cladding.
Before using it with another Fortex profile, check that the channel depth and installation detail are suitable. This is particularly important for Shadow Gap cladding, which has its own installation requirements.

Installation Guidance
Fit suitable supporting battens behind the end of the cladding installation. Cut and secure the profile before inserting the final board. Use corrosion-resistant cladding screws and avoid fixing through the cladding in a way that prevents normal thermal movement.
Leave the expansion clearances required by Freefoam and ensure the board sits evenly inside the channel. Finally, check that the edge remains straight along the full length of the installation.
