Description
The 160mm bend 45° double socket is an underground drainage fitting used to change the direction of 160mm pipework with a controlled angled bend. It is suitable for foul water and surface water drainage systems where a 160mm pipe run needs a 45° change of direction.
This Funke underground drainage bend is designed for compatible 160mm PVC-U underground drainage pipework. The 45° angle gives a smoother change of direction than a sharper 90° bend, making it useful for larger domestic drainage layouts, commercial groundwork, site drainage alterations and underground pipe repairs.
The double socket design allows compatible 160mm drainage pipework to connect into both ends of the fitting. This helps installers create neat push-fit joints and can reduce the need for additional couplers at the bend point.
160mm Bend for Underground Drainage
The 160mm bend is used where underground drainage pipework needs to change direction by around 45 degrees. It is suitable for larger drainage runs, foul water systems, surface water layouts and commercial site drainage where 160mm pipework is specified.
A 45° bend is often used to create a smoother route through the drainage system. It can also help installers avoid sharp directional changes when planning the pipe layout.

160mm Bend Double Socket Connection
This 160mm bend has socketed connections at both ends. The double socket format makes it straightforward to connect two lengths of compatible 160mm underground drainage pipe at a 45° angle.
Before installation, check the pipe route, fall direction and bend position. The fitting should sit correctly within the trench and should not be forced into poor alignment. If the route does not line up correctly, adjust the pipework or use suitable additional fittings.
Use suitable pipe lubricant on ring seal joints where required. Also, make sure pipe ends are clean before jointing. If pipework is cut to length, make a clean square cut and chamfer the cut edge before fitting. This helps protect the seal and makes the joint easier to assemble.
160mm Bend Installation Use
The 160mm bend should be installed as part of a properly planned underground drainage system. It is useful where a 160mm drainage run needs a 45° change in direction while keeping the system neat and serviceable.
Correct bedding and backfill are important around the bend. The pipework and fitting should be evenly supported so the drainage system remains stable after installation. Poor support can place stress on the sockets and may affect long-term performance.
Because this fitting changes the pipe direction, the wider drainage layout should include suitable access for future rodding, inspection or maintenance where required. Always follow the site specification, current UK drainage guidance and manufacturer instructions.
Bend for Site Drainage Work
The 160mm bend is a practical fitting for builders, groundworkers, landscapers and drainage installers working with larger 160mm underground drainage systems. It can be used on new installations, pipework extensions, repairs and drainage alterations.
For best results, use compatible pipe and fittings from the same underground drainage system where possible. This helps keep jointing simple and supports a clean, consistent installation.
This product is not an access fitting. If inspection or rodding access is needed near this change of direction, use a suitable access bend, access pipe, inspection chamber or rodding point as required by the drainage layout.
