Description
McAlpine WM1 40mm 1½” Washing Machine Sink Trap
McAlpine WM1 is a 40mm / 1½” washing machine sink trap with a domestic appliance inlet. It is designed for sink waste installations where a washing machine or dishwasher discharge hose needs to connect into the waste trap.
McAlpine WM1 Trade Overview
The McAlpine WM1 is a practical appliance sink trap for plumbers, kitchen fitters and maintenance teams working on kitchen and utility room waste pipework. It combines a 1½” tubular swivel P trap with an appliance discharge nozzle, helping keep under-sink pipework neat and serviceable.
This trap is suitable for accepting discharge from a domestic washing machine or dishwasher. The side appliance nozzle allows the appliance waste hose to connect directly into the trap rather than requiring a separate waste fitting.
The WM1 has a 75mm water seal to help prevent drain odours from coming back through the sink waste. It also uses a Multifit compression outlet, suitable for common waste pipe materials including plastic, copper and lead pipe.

Why Choose a Washing Machine Sink Trap?
A washing machine sink trap is useful when an appliance discharge hose needs to connect into the sink waste system. It avoids the need to build the connection from multiple separate fittings and gives a cleaner under-sink setup.
The McAlpine WM1 is especially useful where only one domestic appliance connection is required. For two appliance hoses, use a twin nozzle trap or double appliance connector instead.
Installation Notes
Before fitting, check that the sink waste outlet and waste pipework are suitable for a 40mm / 1½” trap. Fit the trap below the sink waste, connect the Multifit outlet to the waste pipe and secure the appliance discharge hose onto the side nozzle.
Make sure the appliance hose is pushed fully onto the nozzle and secured where required. After installation, run water through the sink and run the connected appliance discharge to check all compression joints and the appliance hose connection for leaks.
