How to Use a Professional Spirit Level

Place the spirit level firmly against the surface being checked. Use the horizontal vial for level work, the vertical vial for plumb work and the 45° vial for angled checks where required.

Make sure the level sits flat against the surface and avoid reading the vial while the tool is twisted or resting on debris. For metal surfaces, use the magnetic face to help hold the level in position while checking alignment.
